(For information on currently hanging and past shows see our Blog and Gallery sections, and in the HopeArts Ministry section of parent church, Hope Chapel. New Shows open the 1st Saturday of every 3rd month (March, June, Sept. Dec.).)
To enter a piece or a set of pieces in our upcoming show, you must fill out the form here, and your piece(s) must meet the requirements listed below. Meeting the requirements alone is not guarantee your piece will be selected.
Requirements:
Pieces: We have a professional gallery hanging system, professionally installed and lit within our gallery space. The pieces themselves must be framed, and have either a hanging wire across the back, or hanging saw-tooth brad. Period. Non-standard pieces, such as over-sized canvas/frames or wood paneling, must be securable to our rail hanging system by means of wire or high weighted monofilament, and some form eye-hook or grommet. Textile pieces must have their own dowel rod with wire/monofilament affixed to ends (for hanging from a regular wire-hanging hook).
Our gallery space sees a lot of foot traffic and children, and so free-standing or unsecured pieces are not allowed, for the safety of the art. No tack or putty or double-sided Velcro is allowed. These rules apply to written submissions as well. Artist's cards and statements will be printed and affixed by gallery manager in whatever way the manager sees fit to do so.
Statuary and pottery must have their own pedestal provided, with the understanding it won't be roped off, and within foot traffic paths.
Entries: a "Gallery Show Entry Form" must be filled out, including name of show being entered and piece specifications (dimensions, title, format, and basic description) no later than noon, the 4th Tuesday (i.e 4 weeks prior) before show's opening date.
Once received you'll be contacted for a visual prospectus for pieces which must then be emailed with photo (or photo of concept sketch), along with examples of color palette of piece for jurored consideration. Once contacted you'll send prospectus (with mid-large jpeg format of piece, palette) and artist statement (if desired) to the Arts Ministry Director, or Gallery Manager. Once jurored you will receive instructions on hanging procedures and times, but in general, pieces are due to Pastor's Office no later than noon the 2nd Tuesday (i.e. 11 days) before the show's opening.
Note: the information from the form (here) will be used in the creation of the art title card, and should be filled out accordingly.
